When You Avoid Being Present Because it’s Boring

It’s so common to avoid being in the moment when we’re doing things we just don’t want to do.

You know, all those mundane tasks that you just have to do? Whether it’s putting petrol in your car or hanging out washing, there’s a tendency to just want it to be over with so we can get on to the next thing.

I’ve found that using those moments to challenge myself, to see if I can be fully present in what I’m doing, actually makes the experience enjoyable! I notice what my body is doing. Aware of what I’m sensing. Paying attention to the details.

It’s amazing how we can turn something mundane into something actually enjoyable.
